Papua New Guinea: ‘Sing Sings’ & Spirit Houses
From the luxury of a 36 passengers yacht we will penetrate deep into the remote areas of this fascinating country exploring the culture and biodiversity both on land and at sea. Taking advantage of my earlier inspections and personal contacts, we sail far up the SEPIK RIVER , visiting symbolic SPIRIT HOUSES, see curious INITIATION CEREMONIES, buzzing village markets and make dawn forays in search of BIRDS of PARADISE. The complicated cultural practices, paintings and symbols will be explained by a personal friend who will join us on board. Chris has travelled for over 30 years collecting Oceanic Art in PNG and exhibits pieces in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and has exhibitions in London, Paris and San Francisco
In addition to Spiritual ceremonies, ‘sing sings’ and village displays we will also potter through the island chains of the CORAL SEA enjoying leisurely days to wander the pristine beaches and swim in the warm unpolluted waters.
