Polar Bears & Wildlife of the High Arctic
From our ice-class, purpose-built ship, we cruise the remote fjords and corners of the strikingly beautiful SVALBARD ARCHIPELAGO.Lying well north of the Arctic Circle, the continuous daylight of mid-summer will provide plenty of opportunity to search the edge of the pack ice and glaciers. The crow’s nest camera will help spot polar bears, walrus, seals, reindeer and arctic fox and being able to view from the bridge wings, or right up in the bow provides superb opportunities. Zodiacs and kayaks take us closer to Svalbard’s dramatic geological features and the wildlife that flourishes in mid June. Svalbard is widely accepted as the most striking place to see polar bears, and boasts a growing population, plus of course we expect to see killer whales and if we are lucky a white beluga or the unicorn of the sea – narwhal.
